At Glendale, Value education and Life Skills development is coordinated with character education in order to sculpt a child into a complete student. A complete student is one who succeeds not only academically but also portrays a 'strong moral character ', with a clear sense of right and wrong. Each month a specific value is emphasized beginning from respect, followed with responsibility leading to compassion and commitment. Each value leads to the next yet remains connected to all the previous values thought.

"Life skills teach things like a finishing school. They learn to be an active citizen as they learn to do community service, visit a home for the aged, host orphans, and organize a cleanliness drive. They learn to use eco-friendly products and have a concern for all living things." - Smita-Class Teacher, GradeIII

"Skills of life which last for a lifetime are value-enforcing and very well-handled and taught right from toddlers' age at Glendale ." - Reema Marwah-Parent

"The home studio with its monthly concepts and themes has infused in my child a great sense of responsibility and zeal to do many personality development activities" - Rita Pandya-Parent

“My son always liked reading and writing but the unique Language Arts Program at Glendale turned the ‘like’ into love. I have never seen him so excited to do the lessons, before.” - Dr. Manoj Malwiya father of Manav Malwiya Grade 2

A language-rich environment at Glendale forms a solid foundation for children from elementary school. They are addressed with a rich vocabulary and are encouraged to express themselves through the medium of language. Glendale is one of the first schools in Hyderabad to tread a path rarely taken by setting up a department dedicated to the creative use of language thus making a deliberate effort to make each English Language Arts class cherished by every child.

The endeavor of Language Arts is not only to stimulate the interest of the learner but also to sustain it, ensuring that the language is effectively used. The four components of Language Arts are Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

Reading is a skill that forms the most important facet of learning: phonetics, sight reading and Comprehension enhance the confidence of students. They consciously become competent readers which automatically helps them in academic progress. By following a structured reading program, students are encouraged to become fluent readers and thus foster the love for reading.

Students in our classes explore the different types of writing- ranging from narrative, descriptive, expository essays to letters and poetry. Students learn to organize their thoughts and to match their personal style using the tools of creative writing to learn the art of expression through words. In this way children are groomed to become proficient writers.

Listening and Speaking

When children hear the spoken language in the form of stories, dialogues, speeches and role plays they not only learn new words but also proper diction, intonation and pronunciation. Opportunities are provided for children to speak and practice articulation and imbibe communication confidence. All of these activities help students to master the art of communication.

“Early childhood education is a program, which provides a stimulating play environment for the Physical, Intellectual, Language, Social and Emotional development of the child. It prepares children for the primary and it focuses on the holistic development of the child. It lays the foundation for the development of reading, writing and number work. It is a program which encourages interaction with the environment, active participation in-group activities and enhances creativity and problem solving in children. Early childhood education is a program which indirectly promotes self control and thereby inner discipline in children.”

The colorfully – designed room aims at an overall development of child with fun filled learning centers where the little ones have time to explore different material and play interactively while learning. The hands – on learning material are internationally sourced and provide a high level of enrichment in the early childhood learning experience. There are various activities for the children conducted for the children for development of their fine motor and gross motor skills along with their overall development.

Children at Glendale attend music classes thrice a week which helps them improve their listening skills and results in language development. When they listen to the music their brain stimulates neural pathways associated with higher forms of intelligence like abstract thinking or mathematics. It also develops memory and acts as a brain exercise. For the physical development regular Yoga classes are conducted for the children so they can connect more deeply with their inner self along with exercise. The water play classes in the water area helps add resistance and work as strength training. Children are taken to the water play area 3 times a week were they are allowed to play freely and in return they develop their muscle strength by moving arms and legs in water. This also helps improve coordination. The routine dance classes take care of the cross lateral movement of the child and these activities enable both sides of the brain which prepares a child’s mind for learning throughout the school years.

At Glendale we also have a kid’s gym to improve the motor skills, eye hand coordination, balancing, flexibility and agility apart from the sports conducted. We follow the Montessori Method at Glendale which promotes child’s individuality and recognizing that different students learn at different paces and in different way.
