Value Added Activities 2018‐19 Grade I-XII

Glendale’s VMO talks about building a child’s character as well as competence. Keeping this philosophy in mind, this year we have added a few programmes and services in your child’s curriculum. These Value Added Activities (VAA) will lend academic support and also enhance your child’s overall knowledge. Each of these programmes has been well-researched over the year and only after reaching the conclusion that they are best in the market, a decision was taken to implement them in the school.

Kinder Musik - engaging & developmentally appropriate music classes offer thoughtfully integrated sequences of activities helps in optimal multi-sensory learning. Each lesson is designed to boost school readiness, nurture multiple areas of a child's development, and tap into a variety of individual learning styles

Tumble Tots  - provides challenging and interesting activities combined with fun, excitement and challenge. All sessions will use unique equipment and will be run by specially trained staff. The programmes will be structured according to the different ages and stages of a child's development.

Primary Plus Magazine  - It is an educational newspaper meant to inculcate reading habit among the children. It encourages the students to think productively while simultaneously developing their thinking, reading and self-confidence skills. Also, to encourage the reader to form an independent opinion and develop their own thought process. This is mainly for the primary grade students.

Animation program  - a well‐designed plan integrated with the curriculum for better understanding of subject concepts. To understand the techniques involved in the process of animation and enhance the imaginative and creative potential.  

Workbooks  - Apart from regular studies, keeping in mind the needs of students, well‐illustrated worksheets of various subjects are prepared for the whole year.  These are a  great tool for practicing which helps students to understand concepts better. Also, allows to work at their own pace at the times that work best for them. These worksheets are simple but fun at the same time, ensuring children grasp topics quickly and easily.

Meritrac - methodically crafted question papers by all in‐house subject experts. The assessment will give a granular understanding of each individual student.  

A booklet is provided to students where space will be provided for answering each questions. All the answers are required to be written within the given booklet. Each booklet will also consists of scoring guide and feedback sheets.

Reports project not just numbers/grades but also a child’s strengths and weaknesses so that it helps the child understand and reinforce concepts

Medical Camp - The health and safety of a child is always our priority. Our camp nurses respond quickly to health concerns and work closely with children. If a child needs medication or other medical attention beyond a minor level of support, we’ll call you, and if necessary, have them taken to hospitals nearby.   

We have dental, eye and medical health check up camps during the year to ensure the best possible care for your child.

Times of India (NIE)  - It is an educational newspaper meant to inculcate reading habit among the children. It covers all the current affairs and provides ample knowledge on various domains like science, nature, etc. It also gives an opportunity to the students to publish their articles, artwork, poems, etc. in their newspaper.

Mobile App Development  - Introduction to mobile Technology, programming language, platforms for mobile apps, touch development, IoT and projects. The application used for the same in the play store is a freeware.

ASSET (English, Math & Science) - Through multiple choice questions, ASSET focuses on determining the level of conceptual understanding in students and not how much they have memorized. The test generates detailed reports for students indicative of their progress and topics that require attention and improvement. The teachers receive a special report which indicates the class performance as compared to the other divisions as well as other schools on a national level. The reports are accompanied by an instructional supplement suggesting the future course of action for both students as well as teachers.

The Smart Kid General Knowledge Olympiad (SKGKO) - a test of competence and proficiency in General Knowledge. It is based on subjects like History, Geography, General Science, Current affairs, Sports etc. It is held annually at the National level based on the syllabus prescribed by various Boards.
